![]() ![]() They both have what you’d expect – naming files, output location, output sharpening, resolution, quality, etc.īUT something super useful Capture One has more than Lightroom is the process recipes. Now, when we start talking about exporting from the catalog things get more interesting. However, if you are used to flagging photos in Lightroom, you will miss it, if if you switch to C1. Capture One Sessions folder hierarchy.īoth apps allow you to add tags and star ratings when culling images. But you can find those pretty much in all organizational software pieces. I’d say sessions are pretty neat when shooting tethered, working on a single project or actually working first in a session and then simply importing it in your catalog.Ĭapture One also features the standard Digital Asset Management (DAM) tools to help you categorize your images in folders, albums, smart albums, searching filters, and keywords. In Capture One you can also work with a combination of both sessions and catalogs. Sessions are typically used for a per-shoot basis like client assignments where you want to sort, select and output the images loaded into the session, without wanting to access them regularly.Ĭatalogs are more designed for containing your entire body of photographic work. Like Lightroom, Capture One can open files from your hard drive(s) and work on them directly without moving them anywhere, however.Ĭapture One also has a “Session” option, which creates a project like file called a “Session” and a few folders to contain your captures, selects, outputs and trash. I'm a Windows user and happy to talk to you about the workflow if you'd like.Aside all the RAW processing power both products offer, a big part of digital asset management is the ability to catalog, filter, rate and sort all your digital images. ![]() I found it worthwhile to do for my own uses. ![]() It is a little annoying to set up the first time, but I managed to script these processes and like above, it only adds a few minutes of time before I batch import and post-process to my heart's content. Granted, you could argue these sims might not be "accurate" considering they were made for the newer sensors, but I don't really care about that. But now I can apply any of the newer sims. The X70 is too old that I am actually "stuck" with whatever sim was used for the original image (unless I did the in-camera RAW processing one-by-one). I shoot with both an X70 and an X-E3, and doing this allows me to use any sim I'd like. OP: I use a similar workflow of "spoofing" my EXIF data to unlock film sims in Capture One Express for Fujifilm. I changed computers since then and haven't downloaded the program again, but I do plan to. The results were great, I used it for my X-T2 to get classic neg. It maybe added 1 or 2 minutes to the process for 100 photos or so, but it was definitely worth it and I didn't feel like it was that cumbersome. The program I tried you could change all of the EXIFs at once by batch. I know this isn't what you're looking for, but it's really not that difficult. I know it's a tad cumbersome, but it works. ![]() Once you export the JPEGs, you'll be able to change them back to the X-T1. If you change the EXIF of your X-T1 files to say the X-T3, before importing them into C1, you'll get access to all the film sims. If anyone knows of any other good solutions, I'd be glad to hear of them. I'm also aware that it is possible to unlock the simulations by changing the name of the camera in the photo EXIF data, but I'd rather not have to bother doing this with each and every photo I edit. I have found a link to some in a post dated 2018, though the files at this link have since been deleted. So, my question is - can anyone point me towards, or has anyone produced, any profiles that are attempts to replicate the Fuji film simulations that they would be kind enough to share with me? I am aware that the Fujifilm film simulations (which I am used to applying in C1 to photos taken with my X-E3) are not available for the X-T1 (and all other cameras older than the X-T2). I shoot raw and edit in Capture One 20 in WIndows. Specifically, it is compact and light (lighter than the x-s10, much lighter than the X-T4), has WR, dials for all three exposure parameters and a large EVF. I have just bought an X-T1, the reason being that it ticks more of my "boxes" than any of the more modern Fuji cameras. ![]()
